AAPCHO CD-ROM training resource main interface design

Project: "Directions for Dads" CD-ROM

Completion Date: September 2003

Objective: The National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) received grant funding to develop an educational CD-ROM product highlighting best practices in fatherhood. The client sought a contractor who could develop a high quality entertaining and educational multimedia product within a short time frame.

Solution: Having developed the successful NFI CD-ROM title, "The Father Friendly Check-Up," Eo Studios was the clear choice to design "Directions for Dads". While the written content and general driving theme was provided by NFI, we strategized and designed much of the intermediary content and themes including the many attractions found throughout the journey.

We worked with the project director and coordinator from NFI's Austin, Texas office to devise and implement innovative features including an in-car GPS tracking system to indicate the user's progress. Other feature highlights include over 30 minutes of Flash™ animation accompanied by guided narration, several personalized exercises and 60+ pages of written text. The CD-ROM includes a fast-track for fathers who just want the facts and an expanded scenic route with additional information and resources. Free copies of the "Directions for Dads" CD-ROM can be ordered directly through the NFI web site.
